ASIC Sustaining Engineer
Under general supervision and reporting to the Sr. Director of Quality Operations, the ASIC Sustaining Engineer serves as a vital link between TRIGO ADR Americas and our Prime Aerospace customers. As Senior Semiconductor Product Sustaining Engineer, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive, design, and manufacture innovative semiconductor solutions for Kuiper’s satellite and ground terminal products. You will work closely with internal inter-disciplinary teams and third-party suppliers to drive key aspects of semiconductor product manufacturing, test, qualification, and reliability to meet our customers’ needs. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Travel to Asia sites ( Mainly Taiwan and some SE Asia sites in the future) for sustaining engineering in Foundry Operations, OSAT Testing and Assembly, Substrate.
- Budget and negotiate OSAT CAPEX investments, including testers and fixtures.
- Analyze foundry WAT (wafer acceptance test) data from production lots and publish reports highlighting concerns, if any.
- Conduct yield analysis and ensure robust yield and quality for new products, while maintaining aggressive time to market schedules using data analysis tools and publish reports for engineering and management review.
- Conduct failure analysis, and drive issue resolutions as well as address potential test gaps and correlations issues throughout the supply and manufacturing chains.
- Sustain high volume production RF and high-speed digital die probing techniques to improve accuracy of identifying good dice and improve yield.
- Interact with suppliers such as foundries and OSATs to complete engineering programs for wafer test, final test, and qualification.
- Identify root cause and collaborate with design, test and package engineering to drive fix for qual failures.
- Conduct QBRs with suppliers and identify issues and improvement plans.
- Performs other duties as assigned

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in electrical/communications engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in semiconductor product engineering or foundry process operations, preferably in high-volume wireless SoC devices manufacturing.
- Up to 50% domestic travel required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Masters or PhD degree in Electrical / Communications Engineering or related field.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Strong technical background in one or more of the following:
- Fab process technologies and device requirements for RF applications.
- Foundry and assembly interface experience for RF products.
- Production control processes, data interpretation/analysis, Cp/Cpk, and bench/tester correlation analysis.
- Data analysis techniques and products such as Galaxy Examinator and JMP.
- Wireless electronic manufacturing, assembly and test processes, and hands on experience with failure analysis. Understanding of failure analysis techniques such as FIB, SEM, IR, emission microscopy, liquid-crystal imaging and CSAM.
- Packaging techniques such as FCBGA, FCCSP, WLCSP, and QFN.
- Supplier and OSAT Management and contract negotiation.

- US or Taiwan citizenship required
- Fluent English – reading and writing is required

- Reliable transportation - must have current/active drivers' license
- Productivity: Incumbents must perform work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction.

- Vision: Vision sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and observe behavior of others.
- Environment: Typical office conditions, directly working with the Director of Quality Operations, local and remote staff members, and business contacts.
Other Factors: Typical hours worked are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Incumbents may be required to work occasional extended hours.
The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk (approximately 1-2 miles a day); sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will occasionally drive long distances to and from various suppliers as needed.
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
