Under general supervision and reporting to the Sr Director of Operations, the Procurement Specialist is serves as a vital link between TADRA field resources and our Prime Aerospace customers. Procurement Specialists partner with business owners and their teams to define requirements for identified purchasing needs and then work to identify the best supplier by working with external companies to gather, analyze and make recommendations to the business. The procurement specialist will negotiate all aspects of the relationship including total cost of ownership, payment terms, termination, allowable public relations activities, and maintenance/support. Procurement will often partner with a representative from Finance on financial issues and Legal on legal issues. Procurement will also provide ongoing customer support to external and internal customers, and act as a liaison, resolving any issues that may arise with a contract or supplier.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS - Essential functions are the basic job duties that an employee must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • For a large number of cost centers, is very familiar with the monthly spending patterns and is expected to identify exceptions and areas for potential improvement. 
  • Capable and effective on somewhat complex deals up to $500,000 that may involve creative contract terms to achieve the desired results. 
  • Expected to manage multiple complex deals at one time. 
  • Reviews external contracts and identifies unfavorable business terms. 
  • Requires detailed review and approval by management and legal staff. 
  • Suggest some changes to business terms and simple legal concepts. 
  • Identifies ways to reduce spending via some degree of controllership. 
  • Typically negotiates business terms in the presence of the business owner. 
  • Questions purchase requests that are obviously not essential or that have no documented justification. 
  • Works with the senior management of cost centers to gain understanding and implementation of the Amazon Spending and Transaction Policy. 
  • Work in conjunction with the Procurement Specialist III, able to negotiate deals of medium complexity. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • BA preferred. 
  • 3+ years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Understands Amazon standard contracts and almost all external contracts. 
  • At a high level, is aware of the processes and metrics for a given business area. 
  • Is expected to gain an understanding of new business areas quickly. 
  • Understands the needs of the business being supported. 
  • Effectively negotiate purchases. 
  • Ability to ramp quickly
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • US or local citizenship 
  • Fluent English – reading and writing is required 
  • Pass pre-hire background check including DMV and criminal review

WORKING CONDITIONS
Productivity: Incumbents must perform work in an efficient, effective, and timely manner with minimal direction.
Mobility: Incumbents are required to participate in assigned physical activities which may include light lifting and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
Vision: Vision sufficient to read printed documents, computer screens, and observe behavior of others.
Environment: Typical office conditions, directly working Quality management team, working with the SMS team, and external customers.
Other Factors: Typical hours worked are Monday – Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Incumbents may be required to work occasional extended hours and weekend overtime.
The employee frequently is required to use hands or finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk (approximately 1-2 miles a day); sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee will occasionally drive long distances to and from various suppliers as needed. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
